Book Covers

Another late night.. Finishing up the dissertation this week with the added extra of a couple of book cover briefs, one for the classic childrens novel 'alice in wonderland', and another for a book named 'perfume', recently translated to film in 2006.

I won't bother writing out my understanding of alice in wonderland as it's not dissimilar to everyone else's! I will however outline the plot of the film the second brief focuses upon;

Myself and my housemates watched 'perfume' the other night, a very unusual concept for a film - a young french orphan with a very acute sense of smell grows up very hard, and eventually becomes a perfumer (his dream career). His obsession with smell leads to a desire to capture the scent of innocence, which in turn sends him on a journey of murder (13 virgins to be precise). The film ends with him using his creation of bottled innocence to free him of death for the crimes he has committed. By no means has he achieved what he once desired, and ends up using his creation to destroy himself. Overall a quality film, going to enjoy interpreting this one into a printed visual.
