religion

Our final brief begins on Monday, four weeks of work, then four weeks spent on preparation for both the final exhibition and your image as a graphic design graduate.

The brief is titled ‘the big idea’, students are given five words and are asked to select one. This word will form the product of the final piece of work you produce at degree level.

The five words I was allocated were; religion, taste ageism, morality and surveillance. Making a choice is encouraged early, and I was instantly drawn to two of my five options, religion and morality.

In my opinion, these two words imply the most ‘value’ or significance to people, therefore they are both subjects that the majority of people are likely to engage with.

My particular interest lies in the word religion, I’d describe myself as a definite atheist but my inquisitive side feels drawn to such a powerful cultural ‘force’ that exists everywhere.

From a reflective point of view, I know before I even begin to work on this project I will never be completely satisfied with it, the element of choice is always a variable that plays on my mind, and I’ll always be asking myself ‘what if?’ However, it should be a good one. Will post an update soon.
